5. Batman Returns

Batman Returns:

In addition to the soundtrack as it was originally released, we’ve added three bonus score tracks that I still like. They are all variations and improvisations on Penguin’s and Catwoman’s themes. And, as you might be able to tell, I really loved both of those  characters and wished I could have kept writing more variations for each of them. Musically, they are fun people to hang out with.

Also, I’ve included a bunch of work tape demos.  Again, they are my original synth mock-ups, created while I was developing the score. Some of them, like “Death Of The Penguin” (or Part 1 of  “The Finale” as it appeared on the original soundtrack), are almost exactly like what I ended up using in the movie.  Others, are ideas that did not survive at all, which, like in the Batman worktapes, is the more interesting part for me.
