8. Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow:
Not much to add here. We unearthed four cues that I feel are worth having, though they did not make the original soundtrack CD. It’s mostly moody stuff with the exception of “Philipse’s Death,” which is a pretty fun cue.
We also unearthed more versions of the “Main Titles.” Evidently, there were two separate recording sessions in London for this score, several weeks apart. So, I had to do a lot of conforming and some rewriting as the film was still going through a lot of changes, and I recorded versions of the titles in both sessions. Some sections are very close and some aren’t, so I can only assume that the titles had changes between the two sessions. What I hadn’t remembered was that the original soundtrack album had an earlier recording that did not appear in the film.
So here, for your amusement, is the film version of the “Main Titles” including “Main Titles- part 2” which overlapped the titles into the next scene and was cut from the original soundtrack. I combined them back together, much as they played in the film.
*The Sleepy Hollow worktape is kind of interesting. It’s an early version of the main theme but with a number of differences, including how the melody resolves in places. You can hear how parts got absorbed right into the score and how some parts didn’t. And you can hear how I was still forming in my mind how it should all fit together and exactly how the melody should play. we have included my worktape of Sleepy Hollow as a bonus track on the USB drive.
